Mindful Of Us

Psalms 115:12-15 NKJV
12 The Lord has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord,
Both small and great.
14 May the Lord give you increase more and more,
You and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

Does God think about you? The honest answer from most of us is either I have no idea or probably not. With our verses for today, we should be able to level up our thinking about our Heavenly Father.

He will be mindful of us. Other translations say He will remember us. Either way, God is thinking about us, thinking about you. And not bad thoughts, thoughts of blessings. The psalmist continues this flow of thoughts about God blessing His people. I think the question we must ask ourselves is why we are quicker to believe that God’s thoughts about us are negative rather than good thoughts of blessing?

God will bless the house of Israel and the priests who were the house of Aaron. In case you are feeling left out, God will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great. Those of us who have a reverence and respect for God are blessed by Him. Psalm thirty-four says the same thing. According to verse nine, there is no lack to those who fear Him. That certainly sounds like a blessed life.

And the psalmist continues these wonderful blessings of God. I realize that some have taken the truths of God’s blessings and made them the most important thing in their relationship with the Lord. There is nothing wrong with having a blessings mindset, provided it follows on the heels of a fear of God mindset and a heart to serve Him. Our relationship with God is not all one-sided, what God can do for us. We simply add in our heart to please and reverence Him. But I would rather be thinking of God’s blessings in my life rather than thinking that God is ambivalent towards me at best or against me at worst. The psalmist has already established that our God is not like the idols of the unbelievers. Our God hears and sees and answers. Our God is a help and a shield for us. He is protecting and aiding us. And our God is blessing us and our children more and more and giving us increase. I am past the increase of having more children, but I do want to see my children increase in strength and wisdom, and the knowledge of God, as well as the blessings of the Lord.

And just in the event you are not convinced that God can bless you. The psalmist declares that the same God who made the heavens and the earth will bless. The Jews often referred to God as the maker of the heavens and the earth. It’s a great way to remember just how powerful our God is.

So we have good reasons to be glad today. We have a God who thinks of us and blesses us. He has the power and the heart to do it.

Prayer

Thank You, Lord, that You think of me and remember me. Thank You for Your blessings in my life. I am grateful that You are not done with me yet!
