THE LEAST KNOWN MEMBER OF THE TRINITY

ACTS 19:1-2

ACTS 19:1-2 NKJ
1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”

We are accustomed to referring to the Trinity.  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  The Trinity has been a big part of theological creeds and doctrines.

But this passage typifies the attitude and consciousness of many good believers.  Many are completely unaware of the Holy Spirit.

However, in the book of Acts, we see the early church's recognition and dependence on the Holy Spirit.  He was acknowledged and honored in almost every chapter.  Paul's first question to a group of disciples was regarding if they had received the Holy Spirit when they believed.

The early church did not have the organizational structure, the money, or the facilities that we in the modern church have today.  But the results of the early church are undeniable.  Maybe their willingness to work with the Holy Spirit empowered them in a way that no organization or building can.

APPLICATION

How well do you know the Holy Spirit?  Is He a valued friend and Helper or pretty much an overlooked part of the Godhead?

If you want to know more about Him, go back through the Book of Acts and highlight every verse that mentions the Holy Spirit.  You may be surprised at how pervasive He is and how His power helped impact the world.  And the great news is that He has not changed or left the scene.  If there is ever a time we need His wisdom, strength, and ability, it's today.

PRAYER

Dear Father, please show me more about the wonderful Holy Spirit.  I desire more of His power and ability in my life.  Please reveal to me this great Helper and how I can work more closely in partnership with Him.
