A DIFFERENT PICTURE OF JESUS

REVELATION 19:11-16

REVELATION 19:11-16 NKJV
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.

OBSERVATION:

Well, I did make it back to Revelation.

In the passage for today, we see a picture of Jesus that is not often portrayed.

The typical rendering of Jesus in paintings is a suffering Jesus. Or a gentle Jesus. Or the crucified Jesus. Artwork through the centuries has also put a halo on Jesus.

These portrayals are not inaccurate, with the exception of the halo. If Jesus had walked around with a halo, there would not have been such disputes over His professing to be the Son of God.

The picture we see of Jesus in today’s passage is of a strong, mighty conquering Jesus. The people who have labeled Him as weak and wimpy (I'm looking at you Hollywood) and those who have mocked and scoffed at Him are in for a major surprise.

He is riding a white horse, and He is coming to make war. His eyes were like flames of fire, and many crowns were on His head. His robe is dipped in blood, and out of His mouth is a sharp sword to strike the nations. And He will rule them with a rod of iron. Written on His robe is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Whoa! This is, so awe-inspiring. I get fired up just thinking about Him.

And there are the armies of heaven following Him on white horses. I don't know how one becomes a part of that calvary, but if there is a choice, then I am all in.

This is the conquering Jesus that sets up His reign on the earth. And this is the strong, mighty Jesus that we are connected to.

For those who think Christianity is weak, you may want to think again. Better yet, go ahead and make Him Lord now and get on the right side of this coming war. You want to be aligned with the One who rules and reigns forever.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, forgive me for treating You too casually and not with the reverence You deserve. You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and I will one day rule and reign with You.
