HOW WE VIEW GOD'S WORD

PROVERBS 13:13

PROVERBS 13:13 NKJ
He who despises the word will be destroyed,
But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.

I am pretty much known for advocating a serious mindset in regard to scripture.   I am constantly encouraging people to read and put into practice God's word.

There are no bonus points for me doing this; however, it's the wisest choice for anyone anywhere.

This verse puts it bluntly.  Despise, scorn, or disregard God's word, and as the NIV translation says, you'll pay for it.  On the other hand, the person that has a deep respect for God's word will be rewarded.

There is a lot of advice available today.  YouTube and internet experts are in no short supply.  Many imply that if we do what they advise, it is sure to work out for you.  Many of these experts are bold and confident in the "truths" they assert.  But even more tried and true is the wisdom and light we find in God's word.  Adhering to His word is a sure way to be rewarded, not only in this life, but in the life to come.  Beat that YouTube guru!

APPLICATION

Ask your Heavenly Father to give you a fresh love and respect for His word.  If you really want to be a "cutting edge Christian" just be one that loves and practices the Bible.  You will certainly stand out in today's society, and you will certainly be rewarded.

If you are going to ignore and disregard anything today, ignore and scorn the lies and the negativity that's out there.  Jesus said there is a broad path to destruction, but His word shows us how to stay off that path.
