ALL THINGS NEW, ALL THINGS BETTER

REVELATION 21:1-5

REVELATION 21:1-5 NKJV
21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

OBSERVATION:

This is a beautiful chapter describing a new heaven and new earth, and a new Jerusalem.

It is interesting to note that God will make a new heaven and new earth with no more sea. Evidently, the current earth we are living on will pass away. In 2 Peter 3:10-13, Peter speaks of the current earth and the heavens dissolved and melting with fervent heat.

But do not fear. We will not be here. And God will create the new heavens and new earth, and there will be no curse. If our current world is beautiful, imagine what it will look like when God makes all things new.

And we will live in God's presence all the time. That will be amazing.

And no longer will the human story involve sadness and heartache. Some people have been concerned with the idea that loved ones are not with them in heaven. And that is most certainly a legitimate concern, but in this new heaven and new earth, God will wipe away every tear. When God wipes tears, it is a totally complete job.

There will be no more death. No more sorrow. No more crying. No more pain. We can only imagine what this new life will entail, but the absence of pain and sorrow sounds like a great start.

God will make all things new. And when God makes new, it is wonderful.

APPLICATION:

The book of Revelation gives us glimpses of what is to be in the ages to come. We are not given exact details, and that is probably a good thing. If we had a full grasp of the amazing future that awaits us in eternity, we may be more inclined to check out early.

Paul said to depart and be with Christ is far better. A life without pain and sorrow is far better. A new heaven and new earth will be far better. And the New Jerusalem will be far better.

We have an amazing future waiting for us. We want to make sure we do all we can to bring as many people as possible with us. So they can experience God's new and better forever and ever.

PRAYER:

Thank you, Lord, for the promise of a new brighter future and eternity with You.
